Privacyverklaring en cookiebeleid

1. Wie is er verantwoordelijk voor deze privacyverklaring en dit cookiebeleid?

IMEC (Interuniversitair Micro-Electronica Centrum) VZW, KBO nr. 0425.260.668, een Belgische vereniging zonder winstoogmerk met maatschappelijke zetel in Kapeldreef 75, 3001 Leuven, België, en door alle met IMEC verbonden verenigingen of vennootschappen in de E.U. (hierna genoemd: “IMEC”) in functie van het werk van het projectteam van Mediawijs.

2. Waarop is deze privacyverklaring en dit cookiebeleid van toepassing?

Deze privacyverklaring geldt voor het verzamelen en verwerken van persoonsgegevens in het kader van het werk van het Mediawijs projectteam bij imec vzw. Daaronder vallen onder meer de merken Mediawijs, Mediacoach, MediaNest, De Schaal van M, Mediacoach, M-awards, Vlaams Mediawijs Congres en Nieuws in de Klas.

3. Welke persoonsgegevens verzamelen we?

IMEC kan volgende persoonsgegevens verzamelen en verwerken:

• jouw voornaam en familienaam,
• jouw adres,
• jouw telefoonnummers,
• jouw e-mailadres,
• informatie over jouw opleiding of professionele loopbaan,
• de organisatie waarvoor u in het kader van de activiteiten van Mediawijs optreedt en
• de contactgegevens daarvan,
• de sector waartoe die organisatie behoort,
• jouw IP-adres en
• andere informatie die IMEC helpt om jou beter te informeren of betere diensten te verlenen en die je ons bezorgt, zowel
  • schriftelijk,
  • via het accepteren van cookies,
  • door formulieren in te vullen of
  • in gesprekken en contacten met vertegenwoordigers van IMEC.

IMEC verwerkt geen gevoelige persoonsgegevens of persoonsgegevens van kinderen, tenzij expliciet anders aangegeven.

4. Waar verzamelen we jouw persoonsgegevens?

IMEC verwerkt voor de werking van het Mediawijs projectteam de persoonsgegevens die:

• jij ons rechtstreeks voorziet,
• we verworven terwijl we voor jou informatie voorzagen, die jij of jouw organisatie ons vroeg,
• jij ons bezorgde om te kunnen genieten van wat we aanbieden (zoals nieuwsbrieven),
• jij invulde in het contactformulier, de invulformulieren voor de databanken op www.mediawijs.be en de subdomeinen daarvan, de inschrijvingsformulieren voor activiteiten en vormingen van of in samenwerking met het Mediawijs projectteam of bevragingen in het kader van evaluaties en andere onderzoeken,
• die jij voorziet via de cookies op de websites in het beheer van het Mediawijs projectteam,
• die jij voorziet via de rechtstreekse en statistische mogelijkheden van de sociale media die het projectteam van Mediawijs gebruikt voor zijn communicatie.

5. Hoe gebruiken we jouw persoonsgegevens?

Wij gebruiken jouw persoonsgegevens om

• jou de informatie te bezorgen die jij van IMEC vroeg of waar jij belangstelling in toonde,
• jou op de hoogte te houden van IMEC en onze activiteiten en initiatieven,
• jouw bezoek aan IMEC of één van onze activiteiten of initiatieven te plannen.

Wij kunnen hiervoor een derde dienstverlener inschakelen.

Met alle derde dienstverleners die voor IMEC persoonsgegevens verwerken sluit IMEC verwerkingsovereenkomsten, die hetzelfde niveau waarborgen voor het gebruik en de veiligheid van persoonsgegevens als dat wat IMEC zelf verschaft. IMEC blijft verantwoordelijk voor de verwerking van persoonsgegevens door derden die dat op zijn verzoek doen.

Jouw persoonsgegevens zullen niet aan derden worden overgedragen behalve aan derden die ze voor rekening van IMEC gebruiken.

IMEC zal geen persoonsgegevens uit de Europese Unie uitvoeren en zal de derden waarop het beroep doet enkel toestaan persoonsgegevens uit de Europese Unie uit te voeren naar landen waarvoor de EU Commissie vastgesteld heeft dat ze een passende bescherming bieden. Indien de EU Commissie vastgesteld heeft dat een land een passende bescherming biedt, betekent dit dat dat land een bescherming biedt die wezenlijk gelijkwaardig is aan de bescherming door de Algemene Verordening Gegevensbescherming.

6. Wat zijn de rechtsgronden voor onze verwerking van jouw persoonsgegevens?

IMEC verwerkt jouw persoonsgegevens op basis van één van de volgende gronden:

• het is nodig om jou de informatie te kunnen bezorgen waar jij om gevraagd hebt;
• het is nodig voor onze wettelijke verplichtingen qua rapportage aan subsidiërende en andere overheden;
• het is nodig om een contract op te stellen;
• het valt onder ons gerechtvaardigde belang van onze normale werking, zolang jouw belangen of rechten niet zwaarder wegen.

7. Hoe bewaren we jouw persoonsgegevens?

IMEC zal jouw persoonsgegevens niet langer bijhouden dan nodig:

• voor het doel waarvoor die gegevens verwerkt worden,
• om IMEC toe te laten haar wettelijke verplichtingen na te komen,
• om klachten of verzoeken om inlichtingen te beantwoorden,
• om de systemen van IMEC te beveiligen.

Persoonsgegevens die jij zelf aan IMEC hebt bezorgd voor een verzoek tot informatie of het inschrijven op een nieuwsbrief zullen slechts tot één jaar na dat verzoek worden opgeslagen of tot één jaar na het beëindigen van het abonnement op de nieuwsbrief.

8. Wie heeft er toegang tot jouw data?

Het projectteam van Mediawijs en de webbouwers van de door hen beheerde websites kunnen toegang hebben tot de gegevens die u invult op die websites en tot de geanonimiseerde statistische gegevens die verzameld worden via de website en externe diensten. We waken er echter over dat enkel de bij de relevante initiatieven betrokken medewerkers daadwerkelijk jouw gegevens behandelen.

Wanneer u die gegevens invult voor initiatieven die ingericht worden met partners, kunnen ook die partners toegang hebben tot die gegevens.

De aanbieders van de externe diensten die we gebruiken (zoals Google Analytics, video’s van YouTube, Hotjar, Vimeo, Klynt en VTM, sociale-mediaknoppen, - profielen, -pagina’s, -groepen en -activiteiten ...), kunnen via hun diensten jouw gegevens verzamelen en gebruiken, bijvoorbeeld om hun advertenties beter op jouw voorkeuren af te stemmen. 9. Wat zijn cookies?

Op alle imec-websites worden ‘cookies’ gebruikt om hen goed te laten werken. Dat is ook zo voor de imec-website in het beheer van het Mediawijs projectteam. De meeste grote websites doen dit.

Een cookie is een klein tekstbestandje dat door een website bewaard wordt op het toestel dat jij gebruikt om naar die website te surfen. Het laat die website toe om een tijd te onthouden/bewaren wat jij ermee doet en wat jouw voorkeuren zijn (zoals jouw log-in, taal, lettergrootte en andere weergavevoorkeuren), zodat jij ze niet opnieuw moet invoeren, telkens jij naar de site of een andere pagina op de site surft,

10. Hoe gebruiken we cookies?

We gebruiken cookies niet voor een commercieel doen. De gebruikte externe diensten (Google, facebook, YouTube, Pinterest …) kunnen wel zelf je gegevens verzamelen voor commercieel gebruik, zoals het beter afstemmen van reclame op jouw voorkeuren.

We gebruiken cookies wel om:

• statistieken en (fouten)rapporten van ons websitegebruik te verzamelen,
  • Google Analytics, Hotjar
• om externe online diensten (sociale media, videosites, interactieve toepassingen, een nieuwsbrieftoepassing …)  te kunnen gebruiken op of in samenwerking met onze websites:
  • deel- en volgknoppen van Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram,
  • inschrijvingsveld van Mailchimp,
  • video’s van YouTube, Klynt, Vimeo, VTM.

11. Hoe kan jij cookies beheren?

• Op jouw eigen toestel kun jij jouw eigen cookies beheren en verwijderen. Meer informatie daarover vind je op www.aboutcookies.org.
• In de meeste webbrowsers kun jij verhinderen dat cookies (zonder toestemming) bewaard worden, kun jij in ‘incognito’-modus surfen of kun jij die beheren via een extensie op jouw browser, zoals met https://www.eff.org/privacybadger.

• Wanneer jij zo cookies blokkeert kan het zijn dat jij bepaalde onderdelen van de websites in het beheer van het Mediawijs projectteam (zoals geïntegreerde video’s) niet kunt gebruiken en dat jij jouw voorkeuren telkens opnieuw moet instellen.
• Wanneer jij cookies niet op zo’n manier blokkeert ga jij akkoord met het gebruik van cookies op de websites van het Mediawijs projectteam.

12. Kan de privacyverklaring en het cookiebeleid veranderen?

De privacyverklaring en het cookiebeleid kunnen aangepast worden. Er kunnen nieuwe toepassingen komen waarbij we je gegevens op een andere manier zullen verzamelen of willen gebruiken. We houden je op de hoogte van belangrijke wijzigingen en vragen je toestemming als dat nodig is.

13. Wat zijn jouw rechten voor jouw persoonsgegevens?

Jij kunt meer informatie vragen over de persoonsgegevens die jouw bijhouden. IMEC geeft jou toegang tot jouw persoonsgegevens om die nauwkeurig en actueel te houden. Al jij wil dat IMEC die gegevens corrigeert of wist of de verwerking van jouw persoonsgegevens beperkt, of als jij  zou willen weten of IMEC al dan niet jouw persoonsgegevens verwerkt, als jij toegang tot jouw persoonsgegevens wil of jouw recht op gegevensoverdraagbaarheid wil uitoefenen of jouw toestemming tot de verwerking wenst in te trekken, contacteer ons dan.

1. Who is responsible for this privacy statement and cookie policy?

IMEC (Interuniversitair Micro-Electronica Centrum) VZW, Register of Legal Entities Leuven,  VAT BE 0425.260.668, a Belgian non-profit organisation with registered office at Kapeldreef 75, 3001 Leuven, Belgium, and by all affiliated companies of IMEC in the EU (hereafter: “IMEC”) in function of the work of the Mediawijs project team.

2. What is the scope of this privacy statement?

This privacy statement and cookie policy is applicable to the collection and processing of personal data for the work of the Mediawijs project team at imec vzw. Within this frame among others we work on the labels Mediawijs, Mediacoach, MediaNest, De Schaal van M, Mediacoach, M-awards, Vlaams Mediawijs Congres en Nieuws in de Klas.

3. What personal data do we collect?

IMEC may collect and process the following personal data:

• your first name,
• your surname,
• your address,
• your telephone numbers,
• your email address,
• information on your educational or professional background,
• the organization (company, school, university, etc.) you represent for the activities of Mediawijs and
• its contact details,
• the sector that organization belongs to,
• your IP address and
• other information that could help IMEC to provide you with information or services and that you have provided either
  • in writing,
  • by accepting cookies,
  • by filling out forms or
  • during conversations and contacts that you have with IMEC representatives.

IMEC will not collect any sensitive or special category of personal data or any personal data on children, unless explicitly so stated.

4. Where do we collect your personal data?

IMEC processes personal data for the work of the Mediawijs project team that:

• you have provided directly,
• we have obtained while providing you with information that was equested by you or by your organization,
• you submitted to us to benefit from specified features (such as newsletters),
• you submitted through forms in the “Contact” section of the websites cared for by the Mediawijs project team, the forms for the information databases on www.mediawijs.be and its subdomains, the forms to register for events and training organised by or in cooperation with the Mediawijs project team, or through the completion of surveys for evaluations or other research,
• you provide through the cookies used by the websites that are cared for by the Mediawijs project team,
• you provide through the direct and statistical features of the social media the Mediawijs project team uses for its communication.

5. How do we use your personal data?

We use your personal to

• provide you with information you have shown interest in or you have requested from IMEC,
• provide you with information concerning IMEC or our activities and initiatives, or
• organize your visit to IMEC premises or one of our activities and initiatives.

We may use third party service providers acting on behalf of IMEC for this.

IMEC enters into processing agreements with third party service providers that process personal data on its behalf. These processing agreements contain the same level of guarantees with regard to the use and security of personal data as the level of guarantees IMEC is subject to itself.  IMEC remains responsible for the processing of personal data by service providers acting on its behalf.

Your personal data will not be transferred to third parties except to service providers who are acting on behalf of IMEC.

IMEC will not export any personal data outside the European Union and will not allow any service provider acting on its behalf to export any personal data outside the European Union if such export is not covered by an EU adequacy decision. An EU adequacy decision guarantees a level of protection that is essentially equivalent to the protection offered in the European General Data Protection Regulation.

6. What are the legal grounds on which we process your data?

IMEC processes your personal data on on of the following grounds:

• it is required in order to provide you with the information that you have requested;
• it is needed for our legal obligations to report towards funding and other authorities;
• it is necessary to draw up a contract;
• it falls under our legitimate interests for the effective and normal operation of our business, providing such interests do not outweigh your rights.

7. How do we store your personal data?

IMEC will not store personal data any longer than is necessary:

• for the purpose for which such information is processed,
• to enable IMEC to meet its legal obligations,
• to respond to any inquiries or claims, or
• in order to secure the systems of IMEC.

Personal data provided by you in relation to a request for information or to subscribe to a newsletter will only be stored for one year after such request is received, or for one year following the termination of the subscription.

8. Who has access to your data?

The project team of Mediawijs and the website developers may have access to the data you fill in on those websites and to the anonymised statistical data collected through the websites and external services. We make sure that only the collaborators engaged in the relevant initiatives, actually access your data.

When you fill in data for initiatives initialised with partners, they may also have access to those data.

The suppliers of external services used in or next to the websites (like Google analytics, videos from YouTube, Hotjar, Vimeo, Klynt and VTM, social media buttons, profiles, pages, groups and events …) can collect and use your data through their services, for example to adjust their advertisements to your preferences. Check their own privacy statements for more information.

9. What are cookies?

To make all imec's websites work properly, we make use of small data files called cookies. We also use these on the websites run by the Mediawijs project team. Most big websites do this too.

A cookie is a small text file that a website saves on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. It enables the website to remember your actions and preferences (such as login, language, font size and other display preferences) over a period of time, so you don’t have to keep re-entering them whenever you come back to the site or browse from one page to another.

10. How do we use cookies?

We don’t use cookies for any commercial use. But external integrated services (Google, YouTube, Facebook, Pinterest …) can do this, for example to better adapt their advertisements to your preferences.

We do use cookies for

• collecting marketing statistics and error reporting for our websites:
  • Google Analytics, Hotjar
• using external services (social media, video sites, interactive applications, newsletter applications …) on or with our websites
  • share and follow buttons by Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram ...
  • subscription field to Mailchimp,

In most web browsers you can prevent cookies from being placed (without permission), you can surf in ‘incognito’ mode or you can use extensions to control cookies like https://www.eff.org/privacybadger.

If you do this you may not be able to use some services and functionalities on the websites that are run by the Mediawijs project team or may have to manually adjust some preferences every time you visit our websites.

If you don’t do this, you agree to the use of cookies on the websites run by the Mediawijs project team.

12. Can the privacy statement and the cookie policy be adjusted?

The privacy statement and the cookie policy can be adjusted. New applications can arise, with which we collect or use your data in other ways. We will alert you of important adjustments and ask your permission if need be.

You can request details of the personal data we hold on you. IMEC provides you with the opportunity to access your personal data to keep this information accurate and up-to-date.
